• Pengertian Inventory

Biegel (1978, p. 90) menyatakan bahwa Inventory adalah material yang disimpan di sebuah ruang penyimpanan yang tujuannya adaah untuk digunakan atau dijual pada waktu tertentu.

Pemahaman : inventory adalah suatu barang yang disimpan di sebuah tempat penyimpanan dengan tujuan untuk diproduksi kembali atau dijual..

• Fungsi Inventory

"Inventories serve to isolate the supplier, the producers, and the consumer. Inventories also permit the procurement of raw materials in economic lot sizes as well as the processing of these raw materials into finished goods in the most economical quantities." Biegel (1978, p. 91)

      

Pemahaman : Persediaan berfungsi untuk melindungi kelangsungan produksi dan pemeriksaan permintaan pelanggan dari ketidakpastian pasokan, permintaan dan lead time.

• The Fixed - Order - Size Inventory System 

"Requires that the amount of stock or inventory on hand is known at all times. It further requires that the person or persons responsible for the inventory know the order level for each stock-keeping item." Biegel (1978, p.95)

Pemahaman : The fixed order size inventory system adalah sistem pemesanan yang dilakukan pada pemesanan ketika persediaan tersebut mencapai titik pemesanan kembali.

• The Fixed - Order - Interval System

“A variation of the fixed order interval system is to establish an intermediate value of the maximum inventory at reorder such that if the stock on hand at a review period is between the maximum inventory at reorder and the maximum expected inventory, no order will be placed.” Biegel (1978, p. 94)

Pemahaman : The fixed order interval system adalah sistem pemesanan yang dilakukan pada interval waktu tertentu dengan jumlah pemesanan yang berbeda

         

• Safety Stock

“Safety stock or fluctuation stock are held to meet variations of actual demand from forecast deman, of actual production from planed production, and of actual lead times from expected lead times. Safety stock levels should be set to provide economic protection against being out of stock."
